Second tire down in less than a week. This one was much more dramatic, but fortunately I had mounted new rear tires onto my new wheels at home (background, left) and packed the spare donut just before I left .

Any idea what got you? I certainly feel like retreads should be marked with identifying info so we can fine whatever truck they came off of for driving on unsafe tires and leaving them littering the highway.

From the puncture marks, looks like it was some kind of fastener both times. First one was round, maybe a screw or nail. This one was thin, a bit less than 1 cm long. Maybe some kind of blade or flooring nail.
The worst is when the fastener doesn’t stay in the tire and plug the leak . At freeway speeds the tire deflates and lets go before I can pull over .
Don’t get me started on retreads ... last one I hit tore off my front bumper.

Oh gosh, this is reminding me of work tonight and how newer cars don’t have spares. Had a driver (restaurant business) blow a tire and I was like... “Just put the spare on it” “Uhmmm I don’t have a spare” Had to send my chef out to go pick him up in my car and his tire looked like that.... I asked if he had that fill ‘em up can and he said “That ain’t gonna work”.... When I had the chance I checked the spare in my Infiniti, lol.

I’m going to do my best to never again buy a vehicle that can’t carry a full-size spare. Limits my options but that’s ok.
(I’ll probably make exceptions for toys like a weekend roadster. Probably.)

I’ve given up on paint and windshields. I have numerous rock chips on the paint and every time I get a new windshield, it takes a hit and starts cracking.

A week ago, a truck spilled a load of wood screws on the highway near me.

It almost seemed designed to cause havoc .

That looks serious!
I’m glad no one was hurt. I see all of the construction trucks that have unsecured
crap flying around their beds and they hit a small bump and everything goes flying. The garbage trucks are equally bad when they don’t secure or fully close the garbage containers. Be careful because these things always happen in threes.

I’m okay with a donut to limp myself to a tire shop but.... these days...”Roadside safety kit” or whatever they call it don’t fly for me.

that’s why I don’t begrudge the run-flats on my wife’s car.
